Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Schemers parties.
